son.’ So I came up with this online program and it took off just crazy. I think in the first week, I ended up with 14 online clients ... it kind of just spread like wildfire and I’ve been doing that since January,” she said.
Once Gov. Asa Hutchinson ordered all gyms and fitness centers close, Goff dove even deeper into online fitness coaching. As someone who lives and breathes fitness, she said she worked very hard to make the transition easy for her clients.
“There are two different things that I offer,” she said. “So they have the op- tion of purchasing customized workouts. Basically, the way that goes, is they let me know if they have any equipment or cardio equipment, any weights that they have at home, what their lifestyle is, and how active they are in their lifestyle. Of course, I have some people that don’t do anything and then some that are very active in the gym. So I basically set customized workouts to fit their needs and their lifestyle, along with the option of having a meal plan, which is additional to the workout. That’s the at-home program and here recently, I’ve started doing more with the virtual workouts and quarantine kit. That’s been going well.
“They are 30-minute sessions. What’s great about that is I can have people doing this in the comfort of their own homes with everything going on right now. There is no equipment needed and we do all body weight exercises so we can accommodate everybody and their needs. The great thing about it is I can still do instructional teaching. I can still teach on form and how to do certain exercises because I can see them. ... It’s not the best thing. Of course, I’d rather do all this in person because it is more personable, but at least I get them and their faces. I get to see how they are working out and if they are actually doing it. It’s been great.“
Goff said her biggest challenge during all of this was with the virtual ses- sions. She could only work with four to five people at a time.
“That’s only because I have to have the screen view set at full screen be- cause I put these out on YouTube, and I record them for people that cannot or make the live session. I can send the recordings out so they’ll have something to do at home, as well. That’s been the most challenging thing. I’m all about form and doing things right, so it’s a little bit difficult at times to make sure that they are maintaining good form and doing what they’re supposed to do on their part,” she said.
