Tinker Time - Cardboard Derrick: 1 p.m. Aug. 11 at the Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources in Smackover. Using cardboard, you’ll construct a der- rick similar to those used during the 1920s oil boom. Attendees will also design an electrical cir- cuit using an LED and copper tape to light the derrick.

Summer Concert Series and the Showdown at Sunset: 5 p.m.-11 p.m. Aug. 25 in down- town El Dorado. It’s not summer in El Dorado without the Main Street, the Murphy Arts District and Murphy USA provided free concert series and re-enactment of the deadly gunfight that took place on the courthouse steps in the early 1920s. This event hap- pens each month in the summer, with the concert following the re-enactment, though this year, the concert will move to the MAD venues. The event also includes activities and games.
Museum Summer Fun - Pioneer Days: 10-11 a.m. Aug.
