ProMed Ambulance: 23 years of service
Pr o M e d Ambulance has been saving lives
in Union County for 23 years.
Having a high quali- ty emergency medical service and ambulance transportation system is something every community deserves and expects. The team at ProMed Ambulance knows this all too well because it’s what they do every day.
ProMed Ambulance provides both “911” and general ambulance transportation services to Union County and the surrounding area from its stations locat- ed in El Dorado and Smackover. The com- pany has long been recognized as an EMS industry leader.
ProMed’s ambulance operations include a fleet of paramedic advanced life support units staffed by high- ly trained profession- als using the latest technology. Each para- medic unit is capable of bringing intrave- nous fluids, emergen- cy medications, medi- cal supplies, EKG and pacemakers, plus much more to the side of the patient. In many ways, each ProMed unit is like a rolling emergen- cy room.

A Variety of Services: ProMed Ambulance is more than just an ambulance service. The company also provides business support services and consulting to other EMS agencies. ProMed has made significant investments in computer technology and systems that better manage emer- gency services. ProMed conducts hundreds of hours of training each year for lay persons, first responders, volunteer firefighters and others.
hours of training each year for lay persons, first responders, vol- unteer firefighters and others.
ProMed Ambulance often sets the stan- dards of health care provided before patients reach the hos- pital or trauma center. Each of ProMed’s AIS Paramedic units is equi- ped with 12-lead EKG heart monitors, elec- tronic airway monitors, transport ventilators, onboard laptop com- puters, and GPS navi- gation systems provid-
ing state-of-the-art care both at the emergency scene and en route to the hospital.
In February 2016, ProMed added its first component of telemed- icine by implementing FAST-ECG, a real time application that trans- mits EKG images to the receiving hospital ahead of the patient’s arrival.
As is often said of heart attacks, “time is muscle.” The rapid pre-hospital EKG pro- gram helps reduce the time it takes to diag-
nose and begin treating heart attack victims. The FAST-ECG applica- tion is yet another way that ProMed strives to stay on top of advanced pre-hospital care.
ProMed also offers a cost-saving ambulance membership program in the communities it serves. With a Priority Care Ambulance Membership, individ- uals and families can enjoy reduced costs for necessary ambulance transportation. Even with insurance cover- age, many people find
themselves paying for non-covered services they didn’t expect. Priority Care members may find these costs eliminated or greatly reduced (as much as 40 percent). Low annual fees are $39 for indi- viduals or just $69 for a TotalCare household plan. The annual mem- bership drive is con- ducted in October and November each year.
ProMed also offers Protection Services through the Personal Emergency Response System, an in-home
electronic medical mon- itor, which allows an individual to summon help in an emergency even if they can’t reach a telephone. ProMed installs and supports the PERS units in over 20 Arkansas counties. ProMed is an approved ElderChoices provid- er and works closely with area aging centers and senior in-home ser- vices providers.
