hanks for this privilege and opportunity to share with you and our community the various ministries that are sponsored by
the St. James Baptist Church, located at 608 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., El Dorado, where Bishop Dr. George Calloway Jr. is the pastor.
St. James has a Nursing Home Ministry and members visit with the communi- ty nursing homes each week. We have a Food Bank and Clothing Ministry at 1108 Hillsboro St., that has been operating for the
past 20 years. The St. James VOF144, Village Outreach Facility located at 1104 Hillsboro St., has also been in operation for the past 20 years that serves as an outreach facility to our church family and the community. It takes a village to raise a child.
We have done things such as, summer pro- grams for the youth, after school assistance, facilitated weddings, banquets, etc.
St. James also has a 57-passenger bus that has been used to assist with transporta- tion to El Dorado High Wildcats and other schools football games and college students who visit our city for various functions.
We have services each Sunday from 11 a.m. and each Wednesday at 6 p.m. that are open to everyone. We invite you to come and share with us at anytime.

to achieve and maintain indepen- dent status. This transition phase will reintroduce them to a contrib- utory way of life including perma- nent housing and job placement and separation from the shelter environment.
Often neither the impact nor the presence of the homeless is rec- ognized or acknowledged. While a portion of these people may not ever exist independently, many will be able to with assistance.
A large number of students attending school are in a stage of homelessness and are often over- looked. Children in this environ- ment who have a secret like home- lessness in addition to the other concerns of childhood is at best intimidating and not a burden any child should endure.
The community impact of New Creations Life Center has evolved over the past several years. Every year we provide a Christmas fel- lowship for the homeless, near homeless and for people who have no family to celebrate with during the Christmas season.
This event is funded by an annu- al fashion show titled Rip-The- Runway every September. This event allows us to provide a won-
derful dinner, a Christmas gift, a personal items pack, and toys for children, fun, games and fellow- ship.
Transportation is provided by board members and volunteers. The Salvation Army has partnered with us in the past. Food, toys, per- sonal items and gifts are further supplemented by donations.
Many events have been spon- sored in the past to address specif- ic and immediate needs.
The SOCK-IT-TO-ME give away was based on a request for person- al items for school age children. We were at Old City Park and we distributed back packs and per- sonal hygiene items in addition to 300 pairs of socks. Hot dogs, chips, water and soft drinks were shared.
For those people having made significant contributions to the plight of the homeless, we recog- nized them with a TRAILBLAZERS LUNCHEON.
This was our thank you for all of the contributions made by them, addressing homelessness in Union County. Many were in place before New Creations Life Center.
We also provide financial assis- tance, clothing, transportation and counseling during the year. Volunteers are always needed.
We are currently seeking a pri- mary facility requiring extensive capital funding.
New Creations Life Center will
provide basic services in addition to “preparation for separation” from the shelter environment. Our mis- sion is “To Empower Individuals Through Opportunities To Ensure A Better Quality Of Life.”
Our campaign is titled “HIDDEN
IN PLAIN SIGHT,” addressing the needs of the homeless. Look for ways to support this effort.

Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely.
