• Murphy Red Shield Diner •
Our Dining Area is open to the public 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We serve lunch from 11:15 am to 12:30 pm and dinner from 4:15-5:00 pm Monday thru Saturday. On Sunday, we serve lunch from 12:00-1:00 pm. The amazing thing is the MRSD has been in operation for 30 years, and continues to be a safe place for the community to eat, due to our wonderful partnership with United Way and all of our other sponsors, and their continued support. If you would like to adopt a night and provide, prepare and serve an evening meal please contact the main office and let us know what night you would like to take.
• Community Care Ministries •
It is through our Community Care Ministries that we
go outside of our building and go to the local nursing homes in the area and visit the last, the lost and the least.
Whether it is through music, gift-giving, or even devotionals The Salvation Army takes one Sunday a month and minister in this capacity.
• The Salvation Army •
The Salvation Army works diligently to obey
Christ’s Charge when He said to house the homeless, feed the hungry and clothe the naked. We do this in a multi- faceted and holistic approach. Our goal is to be a hand up to people who find themselves in some of life’s difficult circumstances, and to help them heal physically and spiritually. We at The
Salvation Army, cannot meet this goal alone. To truly meet the need of our friends, family and neighbors it takes a community with all the varied talents, abilities and gifts God has given to each of us.

• Emergency Red Shield Shelter •
Another important ministry we offer is our Emergency Red Shield Shelter. It is through this ministry that we offer a hand up in serving our guests by way of 3 meals a day, a bed, laundry services, a hot shower and even personal hygiene packs. But we also help in the capacity of partnering with our social services department with assembling a case in which our guests can make goals. We help them attain them by holding the clients accountable. Our Check-in time is
at 5:30pm each evening. For more information about our Emergency Red Shield Shelter please contact our main office at (870) 863-4830.
We are very thankful for the numerous volunteers that have helped us and who have dedicated the countless hours serving at our main office at 419 South Madison and our Family Store located at 1324 NW Avenue. We are amazed
at seeing several people and organizations in town that are dedicated to helping those that are in need. Whether it is through serving in our annual Thanksgiving meal to helping us in our food pantry, our volunteers are filled with hearts of compassion and love without discrimination.
Our social services are a vital part of what we do. With the economy constantly in a state of decline, our efforts con- tinue to rise in order to be a helping hand to those strug- gling in our community. The elements of social services include our food pantry, Murphy Red Shield Diner, Financial Assistance, as well as clothing vouchers. Our food pantry is also mobile in that we are able to go to our communities in Union, Ouachita, and Calhoun Counties and provide this much needed assistance without putting more hardship on the people we serve.
The Salvation Army’s Women’s Ministry was established over 100 years ago. Women have always been a vital part of The Salvation Army. Catherine Booth was the backbone of our organization. We use a four-fold program to address all areas of need. Education, Service, Fellowship and Worship is our focus. In doing this, we learn how to give back to God through service to others. This takes the focus off of one’s self and puts the focus where it needs to be. When we fellowship we learn the true art of friendship. To educate ourselves means we are learning about each other and to learn about each other means we care! Worship reminds us of who God is and what He is doing in our life. Our Women’s Ministry meets for Bible Study each Tuesday from 10am to 12pm. We also meet on Thursday’s for Ladies Night Out from 5:30pm-7:00pm in the gym. Please contact the main office for a Women’s Ministry schedule.
