Murphy USA sponsorship lands pro event
Launching the careers of world- class female golfers is just one goal of the Murphy USA El Dora- do Shootout, part of the Symetra Tour—Road to the LPGA
When Murphy USA began ex- ploring the possibility of bringing an LPGA-qualifying golf tourna- ment to El Dorado as part of the Symetra Tour—Road to the LPGA, the benefits were immediately obvious. The El Dorado Shootout will allow Murphy USA to bring the international golf community to south Arkansas and to show off the amenities of Mystic Creek Golf Club. Perhaps most importantly, the tournament will serve as a springboard for female athletes
at the top of their golf game, who are in search of their big break to make it to the LPGA Tour.
Murphy USA is excited to take
a leadership role in empowering the next generation of world-class female athletes.
The company strongly believes that participating in athletics at all levels prepares young women in El Dorado and around the world for powerful futures, whether in the classroom, the board room or the professional athletic arena.
Held at Mystic Creek Golf Club this coming week, the El Dorado Shootout will include a field of professional players on the Syme- tra Tour, who are all trying to make the transition to the LPGA Tour. The LPGA is one of the longest-running women’s sports associations in the world, and
the Symetra Tour works hand- in-hand with the LPGA to tap into the next generation of talent and help them make the most of their potential. Competitors on the Symetra Tour are vying for a $100,000 total purse and an au- tomatic exemption onto the 2016 LPGA Tour.
The 54-hole, stroke play format tournament is the first-ever Syme- tra Tour LPGA-qualifying event to be held in Arkansas. Tournament
play will begin Friday, with the final round scheduled for Sunday.
Special events are planned throughout the week, including a Pro-Am tournament pairing Syme- tra Tour professionals with ama- teur sponsors and guests.
The funds raised work to em- power women in another way: through the tournament’s charita- ble partner, Turning Point of South Arkansas.
Turning Point of South Arkan- sas is a comprehensive domestic violence center providing safe emergency shelter and services to victims of domestic violence and their children. With a steadfast mission of solving the problem of family violence, the organization offers emotional support and ma- terial assistance to survivors of vi- olence in order to help them grow, heal and make positive changes in their lives, and the lives of their children.
First Financial Bank’s significant financial contribution to the tour- nament is allowing the public to attend free of charge.

The Symetra Tour—Road to the LPGA will begin its 35th competitive season in 2015. With the support of its umbrella sponsor, Symetra, the Tour’s mission is to pre- pare the world’s best young women professional golfers for a successful career on the LPGA Tour. The top-10 money winners each season earn memberships on the LPGA Tour for the following season. Symetra Tour alum- nae have won a total of 382
LPGA titles, including 45 major championships, and Symetra Tour events have contributed more than $5 million to charitable or- ganizations throughout the nation since 1989.
