Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources hosts Tinkering events and a variety of summer programs where children can learn and make something. Some upcoming events include Box City at 10 a.m. June 27, Toad Abode at 10 a.m. July 11 and Tinkerfest 2019 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 13. Visit amnr.org for more information.
Murphy Arts District has a variety of events over the summer including MAD Movie Mondays every Monday through Aug. 12 at the MAD Amphitheater, and Thursday Night Live and Live Saturday Night events that feature live bands at the Griffin Restaurant each week. Visit eldomad. com for more information.
MAD Battle of the Bands competition is set for Aug. 9-10 at the MAD Amphitheater, giving a local band a chance to headline at this year’s MusicFest, set for late September. Visit eldomad.com for more information.
The South Arkansas Arts Center’s production “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” will be on stage July 18-21 and July 24-28. SAAC will also host a Corks and Canvas event, as well as the annual HOPE Landing Talent Show, in August. Visit saac-arts.org for more information.
The Boomtown Opry performs every second Saturday at 7 p.m. at the El Dorado Municipal Auditorium, often featuring both local and visiting performers.
The 2019 Murphy USA Summer Concert Series continue on July 27 and Aug. 24 in downtown El Dorado, with each event featuring the Showdown at Sunset, which re-enacts a live gunfight on the steps of the Union County Courthouse, and other activities on the square before the concert itself in the MAD Amphitheater.
