Our readers have spoken and here are the results
A note from Ronnie Bell, general manager
and to those who placed as determined by the readers.
I also want to thank our readers who took the time to vote and to our staff, which worked diligently to tally the votes —it’s a big job.
Congratulations also to Heather Bradley and Richard Reeder, both of El Dorado, whose ballots were chosen at random to win $50 each. Richard said he has been reading the News-Times for 15 to 20 years and likes the fact that the newspaper covers a lot of local news and happenings to let area residents know about what is going on in the area.
When we asked him what he thought of the Readers’ Choice Awards he said, “It’s a a good idea, giving residents a chance to voice their opinion about local businesses and services.” Richard said he will be donating his prize money to the Salvation Army.
This year the process included a 10-day nomination period to give the public an opportunity to let us know who they thought deserved consideration as Best of The Best in six broad categories that were divided into 109 specific classifications.
After the nominations were in,
the top three nominees were then listed for the title of Best of The Best and readers could vote over a 17-day period.
Both the nominees and the winners of the Best of The Best were determined by on-line and print ballot votes.
The ten broad categories are Shopping, Automotive, Home & Garden, Professional Services, People and Food, Fun & Entertainment.
We believe these six categories play a roll in the lives of our readers in some way every day, every week, every year. Readers' Choice is a chance for the readers of the newspaper to determine who or what is the best at what they do.
Each business, service, or person voted #1 will be receiving a framed certificate to certify that they have been chosen by the readers of the News Times as the Best of the Best.
So, take a few minutes and go through this issue of the El Dorado News Times Readers’ Choice Awards and see how the nominees finished.
If you have any suggestions on how to make the process even better next year drop me a note at rbell@eldoradonews.com

The response to last year’s El Dorado News-Times Reader’s Choice was impressive, but this year it was phenomenal.
This year we were able to include official ballots on-line on the News-Times website, as well as traditional printed ballots in the newspaper, these two approaches combined reached even more readers and made casting votes more convenient.
Today, we reveal the results of all the voting, which took quite some time to compile. With a total of 109 categories this year, there were more than 1,800 ballots cast with 93,000 votes counted.
So, our readers have spoken and the official Best of The Best results is found in today’s pages of this section, which you now hold in your hands. We offer our congratulations to the winners
