Process Technology: Process technology program director Dr. Dave Carty at South Arkansas Community College explains processes on the hands-on training unit on the East Campus. This $300,000 unit was paid for by the City of El Dorado and is used in local industrial training in addition to credit-bearing college education. It will be relocat- ed to the Advanced Manufacturing Training Center upon the completion of that new facility later this year. “For a student to qualify for these services, he or she must be a displaced worker and be evaluated by Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act standards,” Palculict said. “He or she must com- plete admission require- ments to SouthArk or our adult education program. The student also must be pursuing a certificate of proficien-
cy, technical certificate, associate’s degree, or Workforce Alliance for Growth in the Economy certificate to qualify.
“With our grant’s emphasis on soft skills — interpersonal skills such as communica- tion, workplace conduct and job interviewing — we are offering several opportunities for public participation in coming
weeks,” Palculict.
South Arkansas
Community College, with support from the grant, will offer a job readiness workshop from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 4.
“This will provide the public with resume and job-interview assis- tance,” Palculict said. “It will be followed by a job fair with local and
regional employers from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 5. Both events will be held at the El Dorado Conference Center and are free and open for anyone to join.”
