It's time to prepare Hfor hunting season
ello! It is that wonderful time of the year again. Most people call it August, but the camo-clad majority of us call it hunting
season prep time. Welcome to the 2019 Hunting and Sporting Guide! The deer camps are busy
as a kicked fire ant mound to line out tasks of bushhogging, putting up cameras, scouting new stand spots, trimming shooting lanes and deciding who is the lucky person to check the feeders for wasp nests. With the wet summer and excessive rains, trails need repairs as well with washouts, fixing bridges and clearing brush.
I am happy to be back writing after my break I
took in April. We welcomed a beautiful baby girl on
March 29 and she will be hunting with Mommy as
soon as she's ready! Paige Aubrey Meade is doing
great and she is so precious. She is already in love with riding the four wheeler around the yard and she loves being outside.
I hope you enjoy this publication as it contains lots of info for the upcoming season including season dates, bag limits, new regulations, advertisers with hunting necessities and a section with color photos of the venomous snakes of our area. I have had my email flooded with requests for the snake identification page that I ran awhile back so it will be included again for your convenience along with the most common nonvenomous snakes you will encounter in South Arkansas.
I hope you all have a wonderful hunting season and as always, you can send your photos to me to be run weekly in the newspaper. You can send any photos you wish (katiemeade25@gmail.com). Whether it be a first deer for a child,
a big buck for your cousin, a first bow kill for your brother, a big catfish off
a trot line or a monster boar hog that your pastor hit with his truck, you can send them in along with a short story of the hunt if you wish. Just remember that with a photo submission, please include the name of the person with their harvest. Age, date and area of harvest, who they were hunting with, method of harvest and first deer, first buck or first duck is an optional description.
Smile everyone! Fall is upon us so your weekends are officially booked from now until the end of duck season. Deer, duck and football season are what we live for here! Woo Pig Sooie!
