Wildcats could employ ‘running back-by-committee’ system

The phrase, running back-by-committee, can be considered a good thing or a bad thing, depending on the point of view. In El Dorado’s case, the running back sit- uation is in good shape, despite the fact none of the backs are considered bell cows, capable of hauling 30 totes per game.
“I think by committee is our best bet,” said run- ning backs coach Claude Johnson. “I think they work better together rather than separately. Working togeth- er is best for us, right now. Everybody is playing hard, practicing hard. Everybody is doing well. It’s just, for
our offense and for what we like to do, we like to use bodies. We play at a high tempo. We like to run guys on and off the field.”
Just because none of the backs have separated them- selves from the pack, doesn’t mean the Wildcats won’t have a talented runner in the lineup. Seniors Richard Kesee and Jarius Curry and junior Keontae Larry bring a variety of skills at the posi- tion, including experience. Kesee and Curry both car- ried the ball last season.
