two and half years teaching myself with a bow before I ever killed one. Gun hunting to me is almost like cheating now because anyone can shoot a deer with a rifle 200 feet away.”
Getting a prize-winning kill is a once-in-a-lifetime oppor- tunity, but if he got the chance, he’d definitely enter into more contests.
“Me and my wife bow hunt. She shot her first deer six weeks after having a baby,” he said. “This year if there was another one that comes up like that, I would hope my wife would get it because people go their whole lives without killing something
like that.”
In any instance, Pittman and
his wife will continue to hunt deer with their bows, fill their refridgerator with deer to make treats like fried deer steak and deer bites.
“(Deer bites are filled with) jalapeno and cream cheese wrapped up in bacon and grilled. We like that a lot,” the hunter said.
To new bow hunters Pittman said, “Don’t give up because I almost did. You’ll never know what you’ll do with it.”
